The Best Vegan Banana Bread Recipe
I am so excited to share with you this simple and healthy vegan banana bread that I have loved for many years and look forward to more!
Out of bananas! Banana bread is easy to make vegan by adding extra bananas that act as a binder to replace the need for eggs or other egg substitutes. And as an added benefit, it also reduces the amount of sugar needed. The trick is to use ripe bananas because ripe bananas have less sugar! This recipe only calls for 1/3 cup of sugar, but of course you can adjust it up or down to your liking.
Fat or lean: Instead of using butter or short vegetables, I call for oil. But you have the option of using vegan butter or short if you like in this banana bread recipe. I played with half the oil and half the unsweetened almond milk (equal to 1/3 cup) with great results. And if you want to skip all the fat for the healthiest banana bread, try unsweetened apple juice – it’s great!
Enhance your banana bread with extras and toppings! Add 1 teaspoon cinnamon to the batter, fold in the walnut or pecans chocolate chips. Or when the dough goes into the pan, sprinkle walnuts, pecans, sesame seeds, oats rolls or sunflower seeds on top before baking, they will add texture and protein.

Spoon and flour level! When measuring your flour, it is helpful to use a ‘spoon and level’ method, it will ensure that you do not add too much flour. Do not take flour with a measuring cup. Instead, using a spoon, pour the flour into a measuring cup without packing it and level it with a back knife.
Do not mix too much flour! Baking practice is to avoid mixing too much When making any type of quick bread, mixing too many ingredients will cause the gluten protein to form a flexible dough that will not rise well. All you have to do is mix until you see no flour.
How to make: Since this recipe was first published, I mixed it into a bowl to easily make banana bread! But you will also find the original approach.

Whole Wheat Banana Bread
Can I make gluten-free banana bread? You can also make gluten-free banana bread using gluten-free flour or wheat flour instead of flour in quantities of 1 – 1.
Can I make this recipe without oil? Yes! I replaced the apple oil with oil-free banana bread and it was healthier and healthier. The bread is a bit thick but still tastes delicious.
Can I make banana bread without baking soda? Yes, I often make banana bread with 2 tablespoons of baking powder, but I have included baking soda in this recipe because I know some people like to add it too. Help brown on top of the bread. Just know that if you do not have it on hand, you will be fine with just baking powder.
Can I freeze banana bread? Of course, you can safely store banana bread in the refrigerator, it will stay fresh for up to 2 months in a container or bag. Safe in the refrigerator. Just leave it to thaw in the fridge before eating. Banana bread can be stored on a covered shelf for up to 3-4 days. Or refrigerate for up to a week.

Vegan Banana Bread (dairy Free)
Classic vegan banana bread tried and true! Moisturizing and delicious, this healthy banana bread recipe makes a great breakfast or a great way to start the day.
Method in a bowl: In a medium bowl, grind 3 to 4 bananas (about 1 1/2 cups to 1 3/4 cup works well), add oil / apple and vanilla extract mix again. Add flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt and mix well, but do not overdo it until the flour is ready. The dough will be a little thick and some lumps will be fine. If the mixture seems too thick, add milk, especially if using a heavy flour like whole wheat or whole wheat (you need it).
Pour the batter into the greased pan. Bake for about 50 minutes – 1 hour. The stove can change, I usually take 50 minutes. You can also try to center the bread with a toothpick, if it comes out clean it should be ready. Remove from oven and leave to cool for 10 minutes before cutting.
Basic method: Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking powder and salt in a medium / large bowl and set aside. Grind the bananas in a medium bowl. Add the vanilla and banana oil to the dry ingredients and mix well. Add almond milk if the mixture seems too thick (you will need it, especially if using heavy flours such as whole wheat or whole wheat flour).

No baking soda, no worries. I stopped using baking soda in this recipe, sticking to two tablespoons of baking soda for good results, but I left baking soda in this recipe because I know some people like to add it because it also helps to brown. Bread just knows that if you do not have it in hand, you will be fine with just baking powder.
No oil or oil reduction. I make it with unsweetened apple juice instead of oil, and it’s good too. The bread is a bit thick and does not rise much, but the taste is still delicious. I also got good results with half the oil and half the unsweetened almond milk (equivalent to 1/3 cup)!

If using coconut oil, make sure it is hot and liquid. My favorite oils for this recipe are light olive oil or coconut oil.
Enhances flavor. Add 1 tablespoon of cinnamon to the dry ingredients for a different flavor.
Using dates: To use dates squeezed in a bowl, you simply add it with all the ingredients. If using the original method, add them with wet ingredients. I would use 1/3 – 3/4 cup dates (depending on how you like them) pitted and finely chopped.
