Simple Moist Banana Nut Bread Recipe
This banana bread has been Simply Recipes’ most popular recipe for over 10 years. Thousands of people do it every day. Why?
The Best Banana Nut Bread
Because it really is the best banana bread recipe. You can mix everything in a bowl, you can change the amount of sugar or bananas. And the secret to its great taste? melted butter.
The beauty of this banana bread recipe is that you don’t need a fancy blender! A mixing bowl, a fork for beating the eggs and a sturdy spoon for mixing the batter are all you need. The amount of sugar is flexible. The original recipe called for 1 cup of white sugar, but most people, myself included, are fine with 3/4 cup, and many are happy with 1/2 cup.
If you want, you can add a cup of chopped nuts, raisins or chocolate chips, or pour the batter into muffin tins and make banana nut muffins instead. You can even go a step further and make chocolate banana bread.
This banana bread recipe was given to me years ago by my friend Heidi H, who years ago asked the mother of a skiing friend – a lady – for a recipe. Hack Meyer. Thank you Heidi!
The Best Banana Bread Recipe
This recipe calls for an 8 x 4 inch loaf pan, which will make one long loaf. This recipe also works in an 8 1/2-x4 1/2-inch loaf pan and produces a slightly shorter loaf. Since the dish is slightly larger, the cooking time is shorter: 47 – 57 minutes. The 9 x 5 inch pan produces extra short but still delicious loaves. Bake for 45-55 minutes.
No blender needed for this recipe! Cleaning is also easy. If you want, you can mix everything in a bowl.
This recipe calls for an 8 x 4 inch loaf pan. If baking in an 8 1/2 to 4 1/2 inch pan, bake for 47 to 57 minutes. If baking in a 5×9 inch pan, bake for 45-55 minutes. Note that a larger pan will produce a smoother loaf.
The best bananas for banana bread are overripe. The yellow skin should be at least half brown and the banana inside should be sour and brown.

Is there anything better than warm banana bread fresh from the oven? I’m probably saying too much, but seriously, a good moist banana bread is truly one of my favorite things in the whole world, especially with a good cup of coffee.
I love baking banana bread, even though I rarely have ripe bananas on hand. Sometimes I buy bananas and won’t let anyone eat them until they’re ripe and I can use them for banana bread!
Moist Banana Bread Recipe (video)
I love Costco’s banana bread, but I always find it too sweet for my taste, but I love how moist it is. Over the years I have made it my mission to make my own version, but slightly sweetened or fully sweetened to my taste. It’s safe to say that I’ve been making this banana nut bread for decades, and I’ve had plenty of time to perfect it.
Be sure to check out the tips below for the best banana bread ever, and if you follow all my tips and instructions, this recipe will be impossible to fail.
Every oven is different, so don’t worry if your bread isn’t ready after 45 minutes. Have clean toothpicks ready and toast your bread by placing the toothpick in the center of the bread. If it becomes a paste, add 5-10 minutes at a time until a toothpick comes out clean.
If you want dairy-free, skip the yogurt and add applesauce instead. This is something I’ve always done often because the hubs goes through phases and the last one he went through he thought was lactose intolerant so I had to make all kinds of recipes dairy free.
Whole Wheat Banana Bread
If you’re craving banana bread, there are two great methods you can use, but your bananas aren’t quite ready.
1. Place the bananas on a baking sheet and bake them at 250°F for 10-20 minutes. It depends on how ripe the banana is. Keep an eye on them and add time as you see fit.
On the second day, put the banana in a paper bag and fold it to seal the air. This causes them to be in their own ethylene bag, which causes them to ripen. Adding apples, figs or pears to the bag will help them ripen a little more.
Now is your chance to customize this heavenly bread! I like to mix chocolate chips into banana nut bread. Vary the type of nuts you use, or dried fruit like raisins or blueberries are great additions too!
Banana Nut Bread ⋆ Real Housemoms
Wrap the banana nut in plastic wrap or you can store it in an airtight container. It will keep on your counter for 3 days or in the fridge for about a week. I like to microwave slices of banana bread for 20-30 seconds to soften, especially if it’s in the fridge.
Freeze banana bread Freeze the whole bread or individual slices. It will keep in the freezer for 3-4 months
Wrap the bread or individual slices tightly in plastic wrap, even if stored in an airtight container. Bread releases some moisture that can cause burns without plastic wrap. Allow to cool completely at room temperature.

This is my favorite banana bread recipe that I have loved for years. This is one of those classic recipes that you start to know by heart, just like a good pie or chocolate chip cookie recipe. Simple Banana Bread Recipe (with Nuts)
I have tried many basic banana bread recipes and this is one of my favorites. Readers have fallen in love too! What makes this so good? This banana bread has the most bananas I’ve ever made. 2 whole cups of mashed bananas, which is about 4 large bananas. Bananas add moisture and flavor to the finished product.
Did you know you can use an electric mixer to mash bananas? Mash or slice the bad bananas and place them in the bowl of a stand mixer – or use a regular bowl and hand mixer. Start mixing on low speed, then gradually increase the speed to medium to high until the bananas are pureed. Transfer the bananas to another bowl and use the mixing bowl for the banana bread ingredients. (You don’t need to peel it – leftover mashed banana is fine.)
For banana nut bread, add 3/4 cup chopped nuts to the banana bread batter. I like to use pecans or walnuts. I absolutely adore their sweet, toasty, light crunch inside the soft banana flour. If you want
