My Best Banana Bread is one of my most popular recipes, and for good reason – it’s delicious! However, this recipe is tedious and time consuming as it uses brown oil and fried bananas.
Recipe For Simple Banana Bread
I wanted to create a banana bread recipe that was as delicious but much easier to make, hence the name “easy” banana bread.
Easy Banana Bread
The best thing about this bread is that it stays moist for days! It can be made from bananas that you have stashed away in the freezer, refrigerator, or from bananas that are getting very spotty on the counter.
I’ll give you all the tips on what to do to get the most out of those bananas! You can even turn it into cinnamon banana bread, gluten-free banana bread, or banana muffins.
This is a really great recipe. The dough is assembled by first mixing the wet ingredients, then mixing the dry ingredients and finally combining them.
Tender, delicate and not very dense bread. This bread seems light and fluffy thanks to the baking powder.
The Best Banana Bread ~sweet & Savory
It is important to choose the best bananas. After all, they are the star of the recipe. You want the bananas to be very spotty.
If your bananas are not ripe enough, one way to speed up their ripening is to put them in a brown paper bag. The ethylene gas produced by the bananas will accumulate in the bag, speeding up the ripening process.
Remove the bananas from the bag as soon as they reach the desired ripeness. You can then refrigerate them if you don’t plan on using them right away, or store them in the freezer.
Dough – Dough is made by mixing dry and wet ingredients in separate bowls. Then they are combined and mixed until combined.
Delicious Banana Bread
Begin by beating together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until pale and fluffy. This may take about 3 minutes. Beat in the egg until well combined.
Mash the bananas and mix them into the dough. I like to mash the bananas in a small bowl. If your bananas are very ripe or have been frozen and thawed, you can simply put them whole into the batter. The mixer will grind them.
If there are lumps in the flour, it may need to be sifted. This will ensure easy mixing with the dough.
Pour the dough into a greased bowl oil form and bake for 35-45 minutes. The crust should be a rich golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into the center should come out with just a few moist crumbs.
Best Ever One Bowl Banana Bread
Cool the bread in the form for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Keep the banana bread tightly covered and stored at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. This bread tastes best on the 2nd day after the flavors have melded.
You can also freeze fully cooked banana bread for up to 3 months. Tightly wrap the entire loaf or slices in 2-3 layers of plastic wrap.
Place the wrapped bread in a large, zip-top freezer bag. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature.

This banana bread has been the most popular recipe on Simply Recipes for over 10 years. Thousands of people do this every day. Why?
Because it really is the best banana bread recipe out there, period. You can mix everything in one bowl, you can vary the amount of sugar or bananas. And the secret of its excellent taste? Melted oil.
The beauty of this banana bread recipe is that you don’t need a fancy mixer! A mixing bowl, a fork for beating eggs and a sturdy spoon for kneading the dough are all you need. The amount of sugar is flexible. The original recipe called for a cup of white sugar, but most people, myself included, do just fine with 3/4 cup, and many are happy with 1/2 cup.
Healthy Banana Bread Recipe
You can add a cup of chopped nuts, raisins, or chocolate chips if you like, or pour the batter into muffin tins and bake banana nut muffins instead. You can even go a step further and make Chocolate Banana Bread.
This banana bread recipe was given to me years ago by my friend Heidi H., who years ago asked my ski buddy’s mother, Mrs. H. Hockmeyer, for the recipe. Thanks Heidi!
This recipe calls for an 8 x 4 inch loaf pan that makes a tall loaf. The recipe also fits an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch baking pan, resulting in a slightly shorter loaf. Since the mold is slightly larger, the baking time is shorter: from 47 to 57 minutes. A 9 x 5-inch pan will make an especially short but still delicious loaf; bake from 45 to 55 minutes.
No mixer needed for this recipe! Cleaning is also easy. If you want, you can mix everything in one bowl.

For banana bread, it is better to use overripe bananas. The yellow skin should brown at least halfway, and the bananas inside should become soft and brown.

Vegan Banana Bread (easy + Healthy)
Banana bread is one of my favorite quick meals. My chocolate chip banana bread is probably the best on the planet (more like a dessert), but I thought it was time to post my favorite classic recipe. It turns out perfect every time, and it makes enough for two loaves!
I adapted this recipe from my Chocolate Chip Banana Bread, but used a little less sugar, a little less sour cream, and more bananas to really bring out the banana flavor. It’s so delicious and the perfect way to eat ripe bananas that no one will eat. My whole family loves it!
It’s the perfect breakfast, lunch, or light late-night dessert when you’re craving something sweet. I like mine warm with butter, but it’s also delicious with peanut butter or a dollop of Nutella. You can even turn the recipe into muffins for easy on-the-go. So delicious!
You should always use ripe bananas (with brown spots) for banana bread. NEVER use yellow/green bananas. A soft banana is also very easy to knead and helps to make the bread very moist. The browner the banana, the sweeter it will be.
Minute Banana Bread
I like to make banana bread when my bananas are at a stage similar to the two photos above. You can let the stems turn black, but you just don’t want to use a completely black banana that has gone bad inside. We’re usually too impatient to let the bananas completely darken, so the first photo is the stage we usually add.
Here are some ways you can try to ripen bananas quickly if you don’t have ripe bananas in your store.
