Quick And Easy Banana Nut Bread – This is the best banana bread in town that uses only 1 bowl and simple ingredients. Moist, slightly sweet and delicious banana bread is only an hour away! If you’ve spotted bananas, this recipe is for you. Similar to my classic banana bread and family favorite banana brownies, just topped with walnuts for crunch.
Today I am very happy to share the best banana nut bread recipe because I really prefer banana nut bread. Some people are banana bread and others prefer chocolate chip, but I’m in the nut category (although if I’m being honest, I’ve never met a banana bread I didn’t like). This is a delicious, firm, and moist banana bread recipe that’s almost foolproof. It’s the epitome of comfort and joy, and at the end of the week, I always seem to spot bananas.
Quick And Easy Banana Nut Bread
I made this recipe using special ingredients to keep this bread as moist as possible. Things like mashed bananas, oil, butter, and buttermilk add moisture to banana bread so it’s still soft and chewy when baked. Also, keep an eye on the clock while cooking this so you don’t overcook it! Overcooked, dark and dry banana bread is not tasty.
Classic Banana Bread Recipe
I use this pale tin that doesn’t darken the pages too quickly. Since the loaves usually sit in the oven for about an hour, you want to limit browning on the sides. If you use a darker metal non-stick pan, you’ll have really crispy edges. If you like crispy edges, then more power to you. But, I like a soft loaf and I think a lighter colored pan is the way to go. If you pull the bread out of the pan and it becomes crusty around the edges, wrap it in plastic wrap for an hour or two while it’s lukewarm (so it doesn’t mix with hot). It smooths the edges properly.
Nuts contain oils, and if they sit on the pantry shelf for too long, those oils will go rancid. This goes for all nuts, not just walnuts! If you taste a nut from the package, you should know if it is rotten. (It should have a stronger, unpleasant taste.) Since half of this recipe is bananas and the other half is basically nuts, you want to make sure you’re using the tastiest and freshest ones.
This is just a rule of thumb for any type of bread recipe. If you want clean, beautiful cuts, wait for them to cool completely. If you really don’t care, leave it out! Warm banana bread is hard to beat, even if it’s not quite perfect.
My banana bread recipe obviously calls for walnuts (classic), but be sure to check out my adaptations below. See the printable recipe card below for complete recipe details and ingredient measurements.

Slowly add the dry ingredients with the buttermilk to form a smooth batter. Stir in the chopped walnuts. Pour into the prepared bread pan and add more nuts.
Bake until a toothpick comes out clean with a few moist crumbs. Cool for at least 15 minutes before removing from the hot pan and slicing.

Store uneaten banana bread in a ziplock bag or airtight container to keep it as moist and soft as possible, usually 4 days on the counter. After that, it’s still good to eat, you’ll just notice that it dries out a bit.
Easy Banana Bread Recipe: How To Make It
To freeze: Let the bread cool completely. Wrap the bread in 2-3 layers of plastic or aluminum foil before placing in a ziplock bag or freezer container. Banana bread stays fresh for 3 to 4 months in the freezer.

Moist Banana Walnut Bread Recipe (find The Secret Ingredient!)
The beauty of this banana bread recipe is that you don’t need a fancy blender! A mixing bowl, a fork for beating eggs and a sturdy spoon for mixing the dough are all you need. The amount of sugar is flexible. The original recipe called for 1 cup of white sugar, but most people, myself included, do well with 3/4 cup, and many are happy with 1/2 cup.
If you want, you can add a cup of chopped nuts, raisins or chocolate chips or pour the batter into muffin tins and make banana muffins instead. You can even go a step further and make chocolate banana bread.
This banana bread recipe was given to me years ago by my friend Heidi H, who begged a skiing friend’s mother – a lady – for the recipe a few years ago. Hack Meyer. Thank you Heidi!
This recipe calls for an 8 x 4 inch pan that will yield one long loaf. This recipe also works in an 8 1/2×4 1/2 inch pan and produces a slightly shorter loaf. Since the dish is somewhat larger, the cooking time is shorter: 47 to 57 minutes. The 9-by-5-inch pan produces extra-short but still delicious loaves. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes.

This recipe does not require a blender! Cleaning is also easy. If you want, you can mix everything in a bowl.
This recipe calls for an 8 x 4 inch pan. If baking in an 8 1/2- to 4 1/2-inch pan, bake for 47 to 57 minutes. If baking in a 5×9 inch pan, bake for 45 to 55 minutes. Note that a larger pan size will produce smoother bread.
The best bananas for banana bread are those that are overripe. The yellow skin should be at least half brown, and the inner banana should be sour and brown.

Spices and additional ingredients are not included. If you’re like me, you need some good banana bread recipes. I’ve never been able to accurately predict my family’s banana consumption: one week we’ll go through them all, and the next they’ll be sitting untouched and turning brown in the bowl. This soft banana bread with a crunchy crust is my go-to banana bread recipe (click here if you’re looking for marble, chocolate, spiced tea, whole wheat, or coconut flavored versions). This bread is delicious right out of the oven and is baked again for breakfast the next day. My family prefers it plain, but you can add nuts or chocolate chips if you like.
For really moist banana bread, use very ripe bananas. Bananas should be at least dark yellow with lots of brown spots, and it’s okay if the skin is completely brown.
If you want to make banana bread and your bananas are not ripe enough, you have several options:
If you have overripe bananas that you’re not ready to cook, don’t let them go to waste – freeze them! I usually freeze them in bags of 2 or 3 because when mashed, they usually make 1 cup (which is what most banana bread recipes call for). Simply peel a banana and place it in a sealed container or freezer bag. When they are ready to use, melt them in a bag and then crush them.
