Moist Delicious Banana Nut Bread
Even though I hardly have any ripe bananas on hand, I love making banana bread. Sometimes I buy bananas and just don’t let anyone eat them just because they’re ripe so I can use them to make banana bread!
Best Banana Bread Recipe
I love Costco banana bread but I always find it pretty sweet for my taste but I love how moist it is. Over the years, I’ve decided to make my own version, but lightly sweetened or perfectly sweetened to my liking. It’s safe to say I’ve been making this Banana Nut Bread for decades and have plenty of time to perfect it.
Be sure to check out the tips below for the best banana bread ever, and if you follow all my tips and instructions, there’s no way you could fail this recipe.
Every oven is different, so don’t worry if your bread isn’t baked after 45 minutes. Prepare a clean pair of toothpicks to test your bread by inserting a toothpick into the center of your bread. If it comes out a little batter, add another 5-10 minutes at a time, until the toothpick comes out clean.
If you want a dairy-free version, skip the yogurt and add applesauce instead. This is something I always do often because hubs go through stages and the last stage she went through thought she was lactose intolerant so I had to make all sorts of dairy-free recipes.
Mom’s Banana Bread
If you’re craving banana bread, there are two great ways to use it, but your bananas aren’t quite ready.
1. Place the plantains on a baking sheet and bake at 250°F for 10-20 minutes. This will depend on how ripe your bananas are. Take a look at them and add as much time as you see fit.
One more day, put your bananas in a paper bag and fold the top to seal in outside air. This leaves them in a bag filled with their own ethylene, which causes them to ripen. Adding an apple, fig or pear to the bag will help them ripen a little more.
Now is your chance to customize this heavenly bread! I love mixing chocolate chips into my Banana Nut Bread. Change up the type of nuts you use, or dried fruits like raisins or cranberries are also great additions!
The Ultimate Moist Banana Bread
You can wrap the banana loaf bread tightly with plastic wrap or store in an airtight container. It will last 3 days on the counter or about a week in the refrigerator. I like to microwave my banana bread slices for 20-30 seconds to soften them, especially if they’re in the fridge.
Freeze banana bread Freeze whole bread or individual slices. It will last 3-4 months in the freezer!
Wrap individual bread or slices extremely tightly with plastic wrap, even if stored in an airtight container. The bread will give off some moisture that could cause freezer burn without the plastic wrap. Allow it to thaw completely at room temperature.
