Easy Blueberry Banana Bread (+ Blueberry Butter!)

This post was originally published on January 27, 2016 and was updated with new content on January 15, 2019. This blueberry banana bread recipe is a healthy take on the classic banana bread that’s loaded with blueberries. No eggs or dairy are required, making it the perfect vegan and gluten-free sweet bread. Moist, tender and cooked in one pot.

I know thousands of you have loved my recipe for the best vegan banana bread, but this one might be better.

The combination of bananas and blueberries is so fantastic, and like my original recipe, this one won’t last long at home.

Traditional sweet bread recipes usually use a combination of sugar, sticky sweeteners (such as maple syrup), and oil and butter to make a delicious bread.

Gluten Free Blueberry Yogurt Banana Bread (vegan, Allergy Free)

In my version, we use only vegan butter and no oil, so no added fat. We also offer traditional sugar or options to make it sugar-free (use Monk Fruit Sweeter or Swerve).

Don’t be fooled by the healthier ingredient list. It tastes as good as any banana bread recipe.

Transfer to a loaf pan and bake in a preheated oven (180C / 350F) for 45-50 minutes, checking around the 40 minute mark. When the skewer is clean, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan.

A surefire method to prevent blueberries from sinking (and spreading evenly throughout the loaf!) is to toss them in 1/4 cup of flour.

Tossing them in flour before adding them to the batter will keep them intact and prevent them from sinking to the bottom of the loaf when placed in the oven.

The reason sweet breads like banana bread or this blueberry version can sometimes sink in the middle is because of overmixing.

When combining the wet and dry ingredients, mix just enough to incorporate everything. Overmixing makes the mixture looser, which in turn can sink once in the oven.
