Instead of making my usual banana bread, I went on a journey to make a healthier one. This banana bread doesn’t taste like your classic quick bread, but it’s just as delicious.

The basic bread recipe is just four ingredients. Of course, you can add mix-ins like nuts, pecans or chocolate chips.

Banana bread is usually very sweet, but I wanted to create one that wasn’t because I’ve had a lot of requests for low sugar recipes lately. This banana flavored bread isn’t too sweet on its own. If you prefer a sweet banana bread, you can easily do this by adding a little maple syrup to the batter (about 3 tablespoons) or by adding chocolate chips to the batter.
As this bread contains no flour, it is denser than quick bread. It is also very humid. The ground oats give the bread a bit of a chewy texture.

Best Ever Healthy Banana Bread Recipe
I would call this banana oat bread the perfect banana bread for breakfast. The oats give it a heartier texture which I think makes it perfect for breakfast. It’s a recipe that will last a while and give you the energy to make it through the morning. And although it is sweet, it is not too sweet. Don’t forget to also mention how many bananas are in this bread. All those bananas make a perfectly moist banana bread.
My kids all loved this version of banana bread, and I’m pretty sure I ate my weight in it over the past week.
Make sure those bananas are ripe! I like to wait until they are almost completely black on the skin, ensuring that the bananas are very sweet.
Do not mix the dough more than necessary. The less you mix, the more tender your bread will be.
Overnight Baked Banana Bread Oatmeal
Keep an eye on it while it’s baking, as you’ll want to cover it with foil when it starts to brown. If you don’t cover it, when the bread is baked, the edges will be quite dark.
All ovens cook differently, so start checking your bread around 45 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The top will also be quite firm and won’t move at all.

Best Banana Bread
Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. You can also line the pan with parchment paper and then spray with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, vegetable oil, milk and eggs. Mix until combined. Stir in the bananas.
In another bowl, mix the oats, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the dry ingredient to the wet ingredients all at once and mix until combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Transfer to the oven and bake until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean, about 60 minutes. You will probably need to cover the top with aluminum foil about halfway through the baking time to prevent the bread from browning too much.

Allow the bread to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan. Leave to cool completely before cutting.

If you feel like chopping it up and storing it in a tightly sealed container, that will work too. Freshly baked healthy banana bread can last 2-3 days at room temperature and longer in the fridge.
How you store it will determine how long they last. If you plan to eat your chocolate chip banana bread in 2 days, it is safe to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out and leave it on the kitchen counter at room temperature. They will last up to a week in the fridge. Keep it wrapped or sliced and put in an airtight container.
