Chocolate Chip Walnut Banana Bread
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a 9″ x 5″ baking pan with parchment paper. I like to hang extra parchment around the sides of the baking sheet to make it easier to remove the bread from the pan after baking. Just take it from the parchment. Simple! Prepare flax eggs by mixing flax seeds and water.

STEP 2: Add the bananas to a large bowl and mash well with a fork. Add remaining wet ingredients (flax eggs, maple syrup, milk, butter, vanilla extract).
STEP 4: Add the dry ingredients to the bowl of wet ingredients and mix until combined. Add chocolate chips and walnuts. Stir to spread over the dough.
STEP 5: Transfer to a 9″ x 5″ baking dish and sprinkle with additional nuts or chocolate chips, if desired. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
Yes! Simply divide the batter evenly into a greased (or lined with cupcake liners) muffin tin and bake for 18-20 minutes.

This chocolate chip banana bread recipe is super moist because I use a secret trick! This banana bread can be made with or without chocolate chips and is guaranteed to become your new favorite recipe!
Before you start yawning for ANOTHER banana bread recipe, give me a chance to explain. I mean, I get it, you’re probably wondering why my chocolate chip banana bread is the best? Your grandmother has the best recipe. Or maybe you’ve made my Toasted Coconut Banana Bread and think you need look no further. But I’m not the type to leave me alone… you already know that about me. I’ve even claimed to make the BEST banana muffins ever…absolutely the BEST, by the way.
But let me tell you, I have officially cracked the banana bread code. This Chocolate Banana Bread I’m sharing with you today is EVERYTHING.
Banana Bread With Chocolate Chips
Let me explain why this is the ultimate banana bread recipe you’ll ever need. First, it’s very wet (sorry). This recipe also contains butter as sour cream, which not only makes it incredibly soft, but also tastes great, unlike many banana bread recipes made with butter. Of course, in this recipe I use walnuts, you can skip them if you want, but I recommend that you at least make this recipe for the first time.
BUT the real secret to this recipe’s great moisture and banana flavor is… wait for it… SLICED BANANAS. You add some pureed and some thinly sliced. Already lost your mind?
When you add sliced bananas to bread, you’re left with little bits of banana that you don’t usually have when mashed. It’s not soft enough, it wouldn’t be good… just the perfect thing your banana bread is always missing. I’m telling you it’s legit.
No! If you don’t like nuts, you can skip them altogether. You can even add a few extra chocolate chips, you can even add chocolate chips! My banana bread recipe is great for adapting. You can even try adding different flavor combinations of chips and nuts!

You can easily substitute pecans in this recipe. I would recommend using softer nuts like walnuts or pecans to keep the texture of the bread. If you want to experiment with, for example, pistachios or peanuts in this recipe, just chop them!
Yes! Freezing banana bread is a great way to save whatever you can get, or to double the recipe and save the bread for later. Just thaw the banana bread at room temperature, slice and serve!
It’s amazingly hot when it comes out of the oven. And it tastes better with butter.
BUT the great thing about this chocolate chip banana bread is that it tastes amazing when warm…but it’s SO GOOD the next day too! The flavors have a chance to mingle and become really soft and friendly.
