Bananas on their own are good for dogs in moderation, but because this snack contains a lot of sugar, it’s not the best treat for your pup. Stick to the dog’s behavior instead.
After baking, the bread will keep at room temperature for 3 to 4 days. Simply wrap in plastic wrap or store in a large resealable bag. If you refrigerate it, it will last a few more days.

You’re only an hour away from moist, lightly sweet and delicious banana bread! If you have light bananas, this is the recipe. for you. Similar to the classic banana bread mine and family favorite banana bread muffins, only topped with walnuts for a buttery crunch.
Today I am very happy to share the best banana nut bread recipe because honestly, I love banana bread with nuts. Some people are banana bread purists and others prefer chocolate chips, but I’m in the nuts category (though to be honest, I’ve never met a banana bread I didn’t like). This is a delicious, versatile and moist banana bread recipe that is almost fail-proof. It’s a sign of well-being and happiness and at the end of the week, I always seem to have bananas around.
I created this recipe using special ingredients to keep the bread as moist as possible. Things like mashed bananas, oil, butter, and milk all add moisture to banana bread so that it’s still soft and delicious when baked. Also, pay attention to the clock when you cook it so you don’t overdo it! Baked banana bread, dark and dry not tasty.
I use this light baking pan that doesn’t darken the sides too quickly. Since the bread usually takes about an hour in the oven, you want to limit the amount of browning on the sides. If you use a dark, non-stick metal pan, you’ll end up with really crisp edges. If you like rough edges, more power to you. But, I like a soft loaf all the way and I find that a light colored loaf pan is the way to go. If you take your bread out of the pan and it has a slightly brown crust, wrap it in plastic while it’s warm (not to be confused with hot) for an hour or two. This will smooth those edges properly.
Moist Banana Walnut Bread Recipe (find The Secret Ingredient!)
Nuts contain oil and if they sit on your pantry shelf for a while, that oil will go away. This works for any nut, not just walnuts! If you try a nut out of the bag, you should know if it’s spoiled. (It should have a strong, unpleasant aroma.) Since half of this recipe is bananas and the other half are actually nuts, you want to make sure you use the freshest and most flavorful.
This is just a rule of thumb for any recipe. If you want nice clean slices, wait until it cools completely. If you really don’t care, cut it! Hot banana bread is hard to beat, even if it’s not picture perfect.
My banana nut bread recipe obviously calls for (classic) walnuts, but be sure to check out my adaptations below. For complete recipe details and ingredient measurements, see the printable recipe card below.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter until a uniform batter is obtained. Mix in the chopped walnuts by hand. Pour into the prepared mold and top with the other nuts.

Store any uncooked banana bread in a Ziploc bag or airtight container to keep it as moist and soft as possible, usually 4 days on the counter. After that, it is still good to eat, you will notice that it dries up a bit.
Freezing: Let the bread cool completely. Wrap the bread in 2-3 layers of plastic wrap or aluminum foil before placing it in a Ziploc bag or container for the freezer. Banana bread will stay fresh in the freezer for up to 3-4 months.
