Too good to be true? This is not it! We are talking about how to make banana ice cream and if you haven’t tried it yet, you will fall in love. This simple, one-ingredient dessert will satisfy your ice cream cravings and leave you feeling nice and light afterwards!
Simply put, banana ice cream is “ice cream” made from frozen bananas! I call it “ice cream” because even though it’s not technically ice cream, it still has the same creamy texture and delicious banana flavor! It’s called “better cream” because it’s a much healthier version and is made with “nanners,” as some people refer to bananas.
You can make ice cream with bananas, but again, it’s not technically ice cream. Traditional ice cream is made with sugar, cream and sometimes even eggs. Banana ice cream? Just bananas!
But if you are a banana lover, this will satisfy your ice cream craving. Banana ice cream is creamy, silky, delicious and totally easy to make!

You only need two things to make banana ice cream: frozen bananas and a food processor/high blender. And it takes about 5 minutes to do!
Freeze your bananas. Make sure to peel and slice them before freezing for easy blending!
Add them to your food processor. I like using a food processor because I don’t have to add any liquid to blend so it stays creamy. But you can also do this in a blender – just make sure you have the tamper type so you can stir the ice cream.

We can’t have an ice cream post and not include chocolate! Chocolate is my favorite flavor of all the ice creams and this one is really good. Not just the banana base but the cherry adds a really nice complex flavor. Of course, we’re also adding cocoa powder to make it nice and chocolaty!

Make easy healthy banana ice cream without an ice cream maker! Simply blitz frozen bananas in a food processor until you have creamy, healthy ice cream. An ice cream maker is not required for this recipe.
I know what you’re thinking. Healthy ice cream? Ice cream for breakfast? What is this woman talking about?
Ways To Use Frozen Bananas As ‘ice Cream’
Well, before I go any further, I should explain that this is not ice cream in the traditional sense as it is not made from dairy products or similar substitutes. It’s literally just blitzed banana, it’s incredibly creamy and healthy.
Although the recipe is described as simply frozen banana cream, it takes on many of the characteristics of homemade banana ice cream. The texture is thick and creamy, definitely cold and most importantly, delicious.
There’s no reason not to enjoy this recipe as a healthy alternative to ice cream for breakfast, a snack, or an after-night dessert.
To make this ‘Instant Banana Ice Cream’ you need to blitz frozen bananas in a food processor.
Vegan Banana Ice Cream Recipe
Banana pods fly wildly first. But keep going because they will soon calm down and the bananas will take on a powdery consistency.
Continue shimmering, stopping only to scrape down the sides as needed. Then before your eyes, the bananas suddenly take on a creamy texture.
Serve this banana ice cream immediately after making it for best results. If you freeze it, it loses its consistency, making it very difficult to get it out.
However, if you really need to pop it in the freezer after making it you can add alcohol or condensed milk to make scooping easier.
Banana Ice Cream Recipe
But since this homemade ice cream takes less than 5 minutes with the help of a food processor, I totally recommend serving it immediately after the bananas are mashed.
I topped this banana ice cream with almonds and a touch of whipped cream. Adding chopped strawberries or mini chocolate chips to it is also a blast.
Sometimes I like to think of it as a banana yogurt parfait, and any toppings used for yogurt go in: granola dust, berries, honey, etc.
But since you already have a food processor, you can easily chop up some almonds to use as a topping. To save on washing, chop the seeds first and then stir the banana ice cream.
Healthy Nice Cream
As you might expect, ripe bananas are sweeter than unripe bananas, however
