Because it is such a popular breakfast bread, I decided to include it in the 2nd edition of Go Dairy Free. The new version has 160 new and improved recipes, but I also had to preserve some favorites. Healthy Banana Bread [vegan, Gluten Free, Oil Free, Refined Sugar Free]
Sweet from the bananas themselves, and love to be covered with their favorite spreads. On good mornings I go with nut butter and cinnamon. On sweet mornings come honey or homemade chia marmalade (fresh strawberry and raspberry chia jam recipes are in the Go Dairy Free 2nd edition).
This dairy-free banana bread recipe also requires no dairy, eggs, nuts or soy. In fact, it’s naturally plant-based and vegan!
Here’s a little background on this healthy banana bread that’s now part of the regular breakfast rotation at my house…
An important part of staying strictly dairy free for me was homemade bread. At the time, every bread from my local grocery store had milk in some form (milk powder, cheese, whey, caseinate, etc.). Some specialist vegan brands eventually appeared, but they were still too expensive to justify a regular purchase.
The Best Vegan Banana Bread With No Sugar
I’ve learned to enjoy kneading good homemade sourdough bread (good for relieving stress), but I don’t always have time for the process. So I decided to create a quick bread that was nutritious enough to use on my morning toast.
With that in mind, this healthy bread is completely sugar-free, using only bananas for a hint of sweetness. I find it perfect as a base for nut butter, jam, butter paste or honey, each of which gives its own dose of flavor. And if I feel like a little extra sweetness, I add a little unrefined sweetener to the recipe. I have included this as an option in the recipe below.
However, if you want a piece of banana bread with sugar for dessert, I suggest looking elsewhere. If you want a wonderful breakfast bread that makes you feel good, look no further.

Moist Banana Bread With Dates Recipe
I just love this bread! It’s banana without being too sweet – the perfect base for jam or sweet spread (although we like it better with almond butter!). This has me this morning for a few days.

I’m new to dairy free baking…I replaced an egg with flaxseed and added a few tablespoons of maple syrup – it was perfect! Just a touch of sweetness, and no one would guess there’s no butter or cow’s milk in it! ?

Ingredient Healthy Banana Oatmeal Bread (no Flour, Refined Sugar Or Butter)
I love that there is no sugar in this banana bread – perfect to cook for two year olds. The recipe worked well in every way except the cooking time. I pulled up after 40 minutes because we had to leave the house, but it still wasn’t as finished as I would have liked. Will bake longer next time and suspect the bread will be spot on. I LOVE this dairy-free banana bread! I add about 4 tablespoons of agave or honey to sweeten it up a bit. I have 3 kids (7, 4 and 2) and they devour it! In fact, I now make double batches and put them in the freezer. I am very happy to have found this site. I am looking forward to posting more recipes as my oldest son has a dairy allergy. Low Fat Vegan Banana Bread Recipe

I made this today, gluten free, by replacing the flour with my mix of GF rice flour and 1/4 tsp xanthan gum. It looks great. I was craving a morning treat to toast and then spread with peanut butter. That’s it! Thanks for sharing such a good recipe!

Oatmeal Banana Bread
. Going out on a limb, I decided to create a banana bread recipe that is completely sugar free. It is based exclusively on extra ripe bananas for natural sweetness. The result was this slightly sweet bread that my whole family loved. It’s perfect for breakfast and won’t leave you slumped over your keyboard at 10am. It also toasts well and is a perfect medium for your favorite miso or seed butter, butter spread or chia marmalade.
BANANA NOTE: I prefer to use 2 full cups of mashed bananas for the deepest flavor and moist bread. But using just 1 ½ cups allows the bread to rise a little longer.
MINI BREAD VARIATION: Pour the batter into 4 greased and floured pans (6 × 3 inches) and bake at 350ºF for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a loaf comes out clean.
SWEETENER VARIATION: Add ¼ to ½ cup honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, or your sweetener of choice to the wet ingredients in step 4 and increase the salt to ½ tsp. You may need to bake the bread a little longer.
